Bonaventure is a golf course community of condominiums, townhouses and single-family homes in the city’s northeast corner. It was planned apart from the rest of the city: the city’s history page says the land was sold off from the Arvida holdings to be developed separately, and its residents voted on April 1, 1997, to join the new City of Weston instead of Sunrise.
