Roundabouts

Weston has several roundabouts, including Bonaventure Boulevard at Saddle Club Road and at Blatt Boulevard. The city’s roundabout rules:

  • Yield at the entry line to traffic already circulating on your left; do not stop if the way is clear.
  • The posted speed limit in a roundabout is 15 mph.
  • Yield to pedestrians in the crosswalks and to bicyclists, and do not turn in front of a bike when you exit.
  • For an emergency vehicle, exit the roundabout first, then pull over.
  • On foot, use the crosswalks around the edge; never cross to the center island.

Buses

Broward County Transit Route 23 runs along Weston Road, according to the city’s new residents page. During the Weston Road corridor work, the city and BCT closed the southbound stop just south of West Corporate Lakes Boulevard (stop No. 5288) for about four months. Every BCT bus carries a bike rack, and bikes ride free, the city says. For routes and times, use BCT’s trip planner.

Airports

From the city’s geography page:

Airport Distance and drive time from Weston
Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International (FLL) About 18 miles east, 25 minutes
Miami International (MIA) About 28 miles south, 35 minutes

FLL’s parking garages and rates are on the airport’s parking page. The city lists Port Everglades at the same distance as FLL, 18 miles east.

Bikes

Weston has 51.7 miles of marked bike lanes, and free Fixit repair stands with tools and a pump in seven parks; see parks and trails for the list. New bike lanes are being designed for Bonaventure Boulevard and Saddle Club Road. For longer rides, the city points to Broward County’s Bike Broward trip planner and its bicycle suitability map. Florida law lets cyclists ride two abreast unless they are impeding traffic, the city notes, and riders should keep to the bike lane or the right side of the road.

Parking

We found no city-run parking meters or parking decks on the city’s pages. City parks use city lots, and Weston Town Center has on-site parking. On the Fourth of July, the city restricts access to Weston Town Center during the parade; see our Fourth of July page. Parking rules inside gated communities are set by each homeowners association.

What this means for you

  • FLL is about 25 minutes away; leave extra time for I-595.
