The closure to plan around this week is the southbound I-75 exit to westbound Royal Palm Boulevard, shut overnight Thursday into Friday for the Florida Department of Transportation’s widening of the I-75 interchange. FDOT also has night lane closures on the I-75 express lanes and the Sawgrass Expressway south of Royal Palm Boulevard this week.

Southbound I-75 exit to westbound Royal Palm Boulevard: closed 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 5, to 5 a.m. Friday, Nov. 6. Crews are installing a traffic signal mast arm. The city of Weston moved the closure from Oct. 22, and FDOT’s Oct. 30 traffic report confirms the new date. Contingency nights are Monday, Nov. 9, to Thursday, Nov. 12. The detour runs by the southbound I-75 exit to westbound Griffin Road, then northbound Weston Road and westbound Royal Palm Boulevard, with signs posted. Details: I-75 ramp to Royal Palm Boulevard closes overnight Nov. 5.

I-75 at Royal Palm Boulevard: what to expect

FDOT’s contractor, OHLA USA, is widening the I-75 mainline, the exit and entrance ramps at Royal Palm Boulevard and Griffin Road, and the bridge over the C-11 Canal. The job also adds wrong-way driver detection on three exit ramps: southbound and northbound I-75 to westbound Royal Palm Boulevard, and northbound I-75 to westbound Griffin Road, plus new LED lighting. FDOT’s permitted closures:

  • Lane closures on I-75 from Griffin Road to SW 14th Street and on Royal Palm Boulevard at I-75: one lane, 9 p.m. to 6 a.m., Sunday through Thursday nights.
  • Full closures of I-75 and its ramps, with detours: 10 p.m. to 5 a.m., Sunday through Thursday nights, for paving and overhead sign work.
  • Shoulder closures as needed.

State Road 84 at Weston Road

FDOT’s page, run with contractor Weekley Asphalt Paving, still lists a September 2026 finish and posts no progress update, so we could not confirm on Nov. 1 whether the work is done. The page still says the U-turn from westbound to eastbound S.R. 84 is closed throughout construction, the left turn from northbound Weston Road to westbound S.R. 84 runs on one lane, and Weston Road lane closures are allowed from 9 p.m. to 7 a.m. Check FL511 before a late-night trip. Alligator Alley

FDOT’s Section 2 repaving, from mile post 31.261 to the Everglades toll plaza, allows single lane closures from 9 p.m. Sunday to 6 p.m. Friday and ramp closures at the Snake Road interchange on Friday and Saturday nights. Contact: FDOT project manager Matthew May, 954-649-3220. FDOT’s Section 1 page, from the Collier County line, listed a summer 2026 finish and has posted no update since.

City projects

From the city’s capital improvement projects page. All three road jobs below listed an October 2026 finish, and none of their pages had posted a completion notice when we checked Nov. 1, so treat them as possibly still active at night:

  • Weston Road corridor improvements. Widening, new sidewalk, drainage and new signal mast arms near South Commerce Parkway, by contractor Pedrail Systems. The latest notice, from Sunday, Sept. 13, started night paving of the southbound lanes between Indian Trace and Royal Palm Boulevard, 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Sunday through Thursday, for several weeks. No daytime or weekend lane closures without city approval, and no full closures. The page still lists the southbound Route 23 bus stop (No. 5288) just south of West Corporate Lakes Boulevard as closed.
  • Bonaventure Boulevard milling and resurfacing, Griffin Road to Indian Trace. The last posted closures, at Royal Palm Boulevard and at the Griffin Road bridge, ran Sept. 8 to Sept. 25, one lane each way.
  • Indian Trace roadway improvements, Saddle Club Road east to I-75, by Pedrail Systems. Drainage fixes, repaving and new 7-foot buffered bike lanes. The page was updated Oct. 2 and allows lane closures, with local access kept, while the contractor is working.
  • In design, no traffic impact yet: bike lanes on Bonaventure Boulevard from Indian Trace to S.R. 84 (design due January 2027) and bike lanes on Saddle Club Road from west of Lakeview Drive to Weston Road.
  • Study: a traffic and pedestrian study of whether Emerald Estates Drive, just west of Weston Road, needs a mid-block crosswalk.
