Weston is built for riding: the city counts 51.7 miles of marked bike lanes and says it is “an ideal community for cycling.” For walkers, the options are the lighted walkways in several parks, the track at Tequesta Trace Park and the new Weston North Walking Nature Trail. The city’s parks directory lists no long off-road greenway, so longer rides use the bike lanes.

Bike lanes

  • 51.7 miles of marked lanes on Weston’s roads, the city says.
  • Coming: new lanes are in design or construction on Bonaventure Boulevard and Saddle Club Road; see the city’s Bonaventure Boulevard bike lane and Saddle Club Road bike lanes pages and our road construction guide.
  • Bus and bike: every Broward County Transit bus has a bike rack and bikes ride free. See getting around Weston.
  • Group rides: the city asks lead riders to stop at every stop sign and red light in the right-most lane. Florida law lets bicyclists ride two abreast unless they impede traffic; on a two-lane road with steady oncoming traffic, ride single file or split into smaller groups. Riders keep to the bike lane, or the right side of the road where there is none, and may take the lane if it is blocked or too narrow to share.
