Four new food businesses with Weston addresses passed their state licensing inspection in August 2026. A licensing inspection is the visit the Division of Hotels and Restaurants makes before it licenses a new restaurant or food service, or one under new ownership; all four ended with “inspection completed, no further action.” Opening dates can come days or weeks after the inspection, so check with the business.

Names and addresses are as the state recorded them, with a Weston city line. A licensing inspection can also mean a change of owner at an existing location, not a brand-new business.
Every inspection record for these businesses, and any later routine visits, is on the state’s online inspection search. For the citywide picture, see our restaurant inspection guide.
How new businesses get licensed in Weston
From the city’s Local Business Tax Receipt page:
- Every business needs one. Every business in Weston, including home-based businesses, must hold a Local Business Tax Receipt (LBTR).
- Certificate of Use first. The city will not issue an LBTR until the location has a Certificate of Use, except for a U.S. Post Office box or a home-based business.
- All online. The Certificate of Use and LBTR applications, document uploads and payments go through the city’s online portal; the CU application form still has to be filled in and uploaded.
- Annual renewal. Every LBTR expires Sept. 30 and must be renewed; renewal season opens July 1, and penalties start Oct. 1. A business that starts after March 31 pays half the year’s rate.
- Moving or selling. A receipt can be transferred to a new location in Weston or to a new owner in a genuine sale of the business; report changes in your online account.
- The rules: Chapter 40 of the City of Weston Code of Ordinances.
The city also points business owners to its business assistance programs and to Broward County’s Office of Economic and Small Business Development.
How we build this list
Each month we check the state’s new food service licensing inspections for Weston addresses and add openings that businesses or the city announce. We do not list a business from a rumor or a review site. Closings are listed only when the business or a public record confirms them.
What this means for you
- Licensed on Weston Road in August: a bakery and a gelato shop.
- Starting a business? Get the Certificate of Use before the tax receipt.
